Original tweed-covered Geib hardcase in fine condition. Most likely the loudest guitar we ever heard. The tone is huge, loud and extremely powerful. Besides this it has had a neck reset and new frets 10 years ago, playability and setup are perfect. All repairs were done professionaly a long time ago. There is one repaired crack on top, some patches on the sides and one patch on the back at the edge of the lower bout, as well as some finish work. It has been in Rudie’s personal possession for over 20 years. The instrument is in very good condition, all parts are original. Mutiple-bound headstock with pearl Gibson logo and pearl crown inlay, white-bordered truss rod cover. Bound ebony fretboard with large pearl crown inlays out of mother of pearl. 2-piece highly figured maple neck with dark center strip. Moustache bridge with individual saddles and 4 pearl block inlays. Original hand engraved tortoise pickguard. Below have a look to the video of this guitar. The neck is made of mahogany, and the fretboard is rosewood.
The body is a bound jumbo size made from curly maple, and the top is a solid Sitka spruce piece. Comparing that J-200 with a Grand J-35 was truly apples-to-oranges since I was comparing a Sitka/EIRW Martin with an Adirondack/Maple Gibson.
It has a Fishman Aura Ellipse Pickup system. That being said, the J-200s Ive played had richer voices than most of the J-45s or AJs or SJs, and I was very impressed by a J-200 TV (True Vintage) I recently played at Mandolin Brothers.
